PRESS RELEASE

The Peel Society is organising a visit to Bletchley Park and Windsor Castle on February 4th and 5th 2009.

Nigel Morris, Vice Chairman of the Peel Society says "The two venues are interesting to our members for two main reasons.  Firstly, the work that the Tamworth Herald deputy editor Phil Shanahan, has done to tell the story of Colin Grazier who gave his life to obtain an Enigma machine so that the brains of Bletchley Park could tap the Nazi codes.  Phil's book, The Real Enigma Heroes, has been widely read by Peel Society members and thay have expressed an interest in visiting Bletchley Park."

Secondly, Windsor Castle played a part in Sir Robert Peel's political life.  He served as a minister under four monarchs, Kings George III and IV, William IV and Queen Victoria.  He had some difficult conversations with monarchs when they were opposed to his policies such as Catholic Emancipation.  Visiting Windsor Castle in February means there are likely to be more rooms open.

There will be an overnight stop at the Holiday Inn in Maidenhead.

The visit has proved to be popular but there are a few more seats available on the Bowen's coach.

The Peel Society welcomes members from other heritage clubs on the visit.
