PRESS RELEASE

Three societies co-operated on Sunday, August 9th to produce a spectacular display of beautifully turned out MG Cars at Middleton Hall.  This famous marque was represented by all models from the earliest from the Abingdon factory to the latest from the Longbridge plant in Birmingham that sadly closed a few years ago.  There were over 70 cars in all.

The three groups were the MG Octagon Car Club, the Peel Society and Middleton Hall Trust.  The display was held in the Glade at Middleton Hall and the event was planned by the Peel Society and organised by the MG Octagon Car Club.

Some cars had driven from as far away as Bournemouth and Lincolnshire, so the drivers were very interested to see the Peel Society's collection of memorabilia about Sir Robert Peel and his connections with Tamworth, as well as the story of Middleton Hall.

In addition to the display, there was a much appreciated concert by the Amington Band in the Great Hall and there were guided tours of the Hall and the RSPB Reserve which will open in 2010.

The event was blessed with lovely weather.
